New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire leaves with his hand in a sling after punching a fire extinguisher, April 30, 2012.
That must have been one steely fire extinguisher. New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire, frustrated with his team’s second straight playoff loss to the Miami Heat, took it out on the fire-safety device Monday night as he stormed to the locker room. But in his rage he didn’t consider the extinguisher would bite back. Stoudemire smashed through the glass with his left hand, drawing so much blood that paramedics were called to patch him up. He’s likely to miss at least one game, and perhaps the entire first round of the playoffs, as his stitched-up hand – not to mention his bruised ego – recovers from the trauma.
