The official website of the uDrove Humanitarian Bowl (previously known, among other corporate incarnations, as the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl) claims it “is the first bowl game in the United States to have humanity in its brand.” The game, staged on a blue turf field in Boise State’s Bronco Stadium, probably isn’t attended by that wide a representation of humanity. Nor does the American Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders run the halftime show. The Bowl’s humanitarianism is part of a humbler objective of honoring contributions made by coaches and athletes to their respective communities. Its current sponsor, uDrove, provides mobile application services for truckers. The last uDrove Humanitarian Bowl was won this year by Northern Illinois on Dec. 18; the Huskies defeated Fresno State 40-17 in front of 25,000 fans.
