The NFL confirmed to ESPN that it fined Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman $7,875 for unsportsmanlike conduct and taunting after his postgame antics Sunday.
Sherman, who deflected a potentially game-winning touchdown pass to guarantee his team a trip to the Super Bowl, made a chocking gesture that he said was directed at San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He then took the Internet by storm with a rant during a postgame interview proclaiming “I’m the best corner in the game” and calling out intended receiver Michael Crabtree.
Sherman, whom Crabtree shoved in the face when he approached the receiver to shake hands after the play, was the only player to be fined, according to ESPN.
But it’s not all bad for Sherman, who has explained and apologized for the rant. CNN reports that the cornerback could make some $5 million in endorsements as a result of the attention surrounding his rant.
