Somewhere in New York, married football players and their wives are celebrating.

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan clarified Thursday that when he said his players should put off household duties ahead of the team’s upcoming game against the New England Patriots, he wasn’t banning sex.

“I did not tell our players that they couldn’t have sex,” Ryan said. “I did not say that.”

Players had indicated earlier that Ryan ordered them take it easy around the house, the Associated Press reports.

“He was like, ‘Rest your legs and go home,’” kickoff return man Josh Cribbs said. “Don’t do anything for your wife. Say, ‘Baby, next week. I’m going to do it next week. I’m going to take out the trash next week. I’ll take the kids to practice next week. But I’ve got to rest for this game.’”

“Somebody misinterpreted the message apparently,” Ryan said.

For his part, Ryan said the chore-ban didn’t apply to him. He said he runs everything in his house.

“I run the vacuum cleaner, the dishwasher, the lawnmower,” he said. “You name it, I run everything.”
