Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao would have been a fight for the history books had it not been for a little spat over blood. Mayweather wanted random blood-testing by the United States Anti-Doping Agency, whereas Pacquiao did not want his blood drawn up to 30 days before a potential fight. The two sides reached an impasse and Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, decided to call the fight off. To explain his bloody reservations, Pacquiao released a statement saying, “The truth is taking blood out of my body does not seem natural to me and mentally I feel it will weaken me if blood is taken from me just days before the fight.” Although Pacquiao has since agreed to random blood testing up to 14 days before the fight, it still remains to be seen whether or not the two will ever be able to resolve their blood feud.
