Fighting her way back from a first set loss, Serena Williams’ clinched her second consecutive WTA Championship title in Istanbul Sunday to end the best year of her career.
The win made the top-ranked Williams the eighth female player ever to claim eleven trophies or more in a year, following a tally of only four defeats in 82 matches, BBC reports.
Chinese world number three Li Na put up a good fight in the final, but a series of unforced errors marked a power balance swaying over to the iron-willed American in the middle of the second set. Li was eventually beat 2-6 6-3 6-0.
