After starting the season with six straight losses, the New York Giants finally put one in the win column Monday night with a messy victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
The Giants’ defense held Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, last year’s league MVP, to just 28 yards rushing, while Minnesota quarterback Josh Freeman, making his team debut, looked rusty, missing open receivers throughout much of the game.
The Giants’ own recent acquisition, running back Peyton Hillis — who was serving as a volunteer high school coach in Tennessee before the Giants signed him a week ago — played a big role in the win, rushing for 36 yards and a touchdown and adding 45 receiving yards.
The Giants travel to Philadelphia next Sunday to face the rival Eagles, who won the previous matchup in early October, 36-21.
