The Governor of Indiana, Mike Pence, is expected to join Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and the owner of the Indianapolis Colts Jim Irsay at the Lucas Oil Stadium this morning to announce a bid for the 2018 Superbowl — capitalizing on Indy’s 2012 success at hosting the championship game.
The city successfully shed its “Naptown” image at Superbowl 2012, impressing 150,000 visitors with its thriving, rejuvenated downtown area. Now civic leaders say they’re ready for more.
Indianapolis will face competition from Denver and Minneapolis, who have both announced bids for 2018.
