Following a three-and-a-half hour finale, Ryan Riess held the winning hand at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
After his opponent Jay Farber went all in, Riess’s ace and king of hearts sealed his victory and the $8.4 million first prize for the 23-year-old.
“I just think I’m the best player in the world,” Riess boasted to ESPN after his triumph.
As the dealer laid the final card on the table, fans sporting shirts that read, “Riess the Beast,” bum-rushed the winner and piled on top of the jersey-clad champ. More than 6,000 competitors entered the Texas Hold ’em tournament that kicked off in July.
