A Mississippi university says a decision by an opposing football team to forfeit last week’s big homecoming game may have cost the school and the city millions of dollars.

Jackson State University was set to play Grambling State University on Saturday, in what was billed as Jackson’s homecoming game. But Grambling quit because of an ongoing boycott by players to protest long bus rides, coaching changes, and rundown facilities, the Associated Press reports.

Jackson State had already sold thousands of tickets to the game. The school is refunding those ticket sales, and is planning to sue Grambling. Jackson says the losses to the school and the city of Jackson, Miss., “could be in the millions.”
