Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning received a warm welcome Sunday night when he returned to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, but his replacement as the Colts signal caller walked away with the victory.
Manning, a four-time league MVP who played 13 seasons for the Colts and led them to a Super Bowl victory in 2007, threw for 386 yards and three touchdowns against his former team, but a costly fourth quarter interception and goal line fumble cost the Broncos the victory.
Manning’s replacement, second-year quarterback Andrew Luck, threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as he led the Colts to a 39-33 victory over the previously unbeaten Broncos. “It’s not real fun watching him,” Luck said of Manning. “But he is something to watch.”
