Two men were arrested for fatally stabbing a Los Angeles Dodgers fan after a Dodgers-Giants baseball game Wednesday evening in San Francisco. Jonathan Denver, 24, was attacked four blocks from AT&T Park 90 minutes after the Giants beat the Dodgers 6-4, and pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital. Denver was the son of a Dodger’s security guard, according the the Associated Press. Another Dodgers fan who was with Denver was also beaten, but his injuries were reportedly not life-threatening.

A fight reportedly broke out after one man made a comment about the Dodgers gear Denver was wearing. At least 10 people were involved in the fight, with one man brandishing a knife and another a bat, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The police apprehended two men, 18 and 21, for the crime, though they were not immediately identified, according to the Los Angeles Times.

This is just the most recent instance of the Dodgers Giants longtime rivalry turning violent. In 2011, Giants fan Brian Stow suffered a traumatic brain injury after being attacked in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium.

In a statement issued Thursday, the Giants said “while details are still emerging, we want to be clear that there is absolutely no place in our community for this type of senseless violence.”
