A high school football player in Brocton, New York, near Buffalo, died as a result of injuries sustained in a helmet-to-helmet collision with another player during a game on Friday evening, Bleacherreport reports.
Damon Janes, 16, lost consciousness after the running back collided head-to-head with a player from Portville High School. He was taken to an intensive care unit at a hospital in Buffalo. He died Monday afternoon.
According to Bleacherreport.com, the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research has reported 25 deaths of players in high school football games from 2003 to 2013.
