There are NBA superstitions and then there are Michael Jordan’s shorts. After leading the University of North Carolina to an NCAA championship in 1982, MJ became convinced that the shorts he wore were lucky. And to bring that March Madness luck to the NBA, Jordan wore his UNC practice shorts under his Chicago Bulls uniform for every game. Jordan’s superstition also led to a dramatic fashion change—he had to wear longer game shorts to hide those practice shorts. And that’s how hemlines dropped in the NBA.
