The longest ever game at Fenway was played on September 3, 1981. Suspended at 1:16 am at the end of 19 innings (per an old curfew rule that stated an inning couldn’t begin after 1:00 am), the Sox ended up losing to Seattle 8-7, in 20 innings. One positive for Boston in this marathon: Jerry Remy’s six hits tied the American League record.
