Russia’s Evegni Plushenko’s silver-medal figure-skating routine in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics included a quadruple jump. Evan Lysacek’s gold one did not. Plushenko was so upset by his loss to the American that during the awards ceremony, he briefly climbed to the gold medal spot on the podium. “You can’t be considered a true men’s champion without a quad,” he reportedly told Russian state television.
