Sweden's Markus Rosenberg (R) challenges Ukraine's Yevhen Khacheridi during a soccer match at Olympic Stadium in Kiev in June 2012.

Despite troubled times in Ukraine, Wednesday’s friendly soccer match with the U.S. will go ahead, NBC Sports report.

A statement released by U.S. Soccer revealed that both the Ukrainian and American players are on their way to Cyprus, where their match was moved after turmoil broke out in the Eastern European state.

Anatoliy Konkov, the national football federation president in Ukraine, originally claimed that the Ukrainians would stay at home, as the team plays “for our people and country.”
