Winter Olympics Day 4: What to Watch

Figure skating, speed skating, snowboarding and more on the second full day of competition at Sochi

The second full day of competition at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi has arrived. Here’s a full schedule of the events to be aired on NBC Sunday. The network shows the events after they happened, but you won’t find names of the winners here.

NBC 2pm – 6pm

-Jason Brown, Gracie Gold, and Meryl Davis and Charlie White will be representing Team USA in the first round of Figure Skating (Team Event), but the gold is Russia’s to lose, with the host’s team poised to win their first event of the games.

-One of the key U.S. biathlon competitors, Susan Dunklee, will compete in the Biathlon (Women’s 7.5km Sprint) after earning the best World Cup finish ever for a U.S. female biathlete, a fourth, last month.

-The Netherlands’ Irene Wust is a favorite in Speed Skating (Women’s 3000m), but keep an eye out for Germany’s Claudia Pechstein, who is shooting for her 10th overall Olympic medal.

-The Cross-Country Men’s Skiathlon features long periods of distance skiing over varied terrain and showcase Swedish defending champion Marcus Hellner, as he faces off against Swiss Dario Cologna.

NBC 7pm – 11pm

-Team USA’s Bode Miller is the gold medal favorite in Men’s Downhill Alpine Skiing, but he’ll face stiff competition from Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal.

-After Sage Kotsenburg’s victory in Snowboarding (Slopestyle), Jamie Anderson will be shooting for a gold medal to follow up her teammate’s win.

Figure Skating (Team Event) continues, and stay tuned for the high-flying Ski Jumping (Men’s Normal Hill) as well.
