Jamie Anderson’s near flawless final run in the women’s slopestyle snowboarding Sunday brought her home a gold, completing the Team USA sweep of the first-time Olympic event.
The 23-year-old from South Lake Tahoe, Calif. had expressed concern about the difficulty of the course when, during training on Wednesday, a fall left her with an aching back, the Associated Press reports.
But Anderson was calm and collected before her last trip through the treacherous Rosa Khutor Extreme Park course and coasted to the podium.
Enni Rukajarvi of Finland took silver while British boarder Jenny Jones took the bronze, Britain’s first medal in any snow sport. Anderson’s victory came one day after teammate Sage Kotsenburg won the same event, giving the United States a double-header in the 2014 debut event.
Stay tuned for men’s downhill skiing, women’s speed skating and men’s luge later in the day Sunday.
