The Washington Redskins will hire Jay Gruden as their new coach, ESPN reports. The Redskins’ search for a new coach began when former coach Mike Shanahan was fired the day after the team’s season ended with only three wins and 13 losses.

Gruden, the Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive coordinator for three seasons, is expected to be introduced Thursday afternoon at a press conference. Before taking the job, Gruden had interviewed or was set to speak with the Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions for coaching jobs.

Gruden will be the sixth Redskins coach in 15 years. No coach has lasted more than four years since Dan Snyder took ownership of the team.
