J.R. Smith has been fined $50,000 for untying his competitors’ shoelaces during games on two separate occasions, the NBA announced Wednesday.

During the second quarter of the Knicks’ 92-80 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, Smith untied forward Shawn Marion’s shoelaces, but got out with a warning from the league. Smith was then seen Tuesday trying to pull the same stunt on Detroit Pisons’ Greg Monroe as the two lined up at the free throw lane, ESPN reported.

Smith was asked whether he “got the message” after the first shoelace gag—but before he was fined $50,000.

“Yes and no. I’m not really supposed to talk about it, so I’ll leave it at that,” Smith said.
