Then New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is arraigned on charges of murder and weapons violations in Attleborough, Mass., on June 26, 2013

Former NFL star Aaron Hernandez will not be answering to charges that he shot a friend in the face after leaving a strip club in Miami earlier this year.

According to his attorneys, Hernandez is asserting “his rights under the Fifth Amendment and, therefore, declines to respond to the allegation.”

In February, Alexander Bradley was found outside a landscaping company near Riviera Beach, Fla., bleeding from the face. Initially, Bradley refused to cooperate with officials and claimed that he did not know who shot him. Four months later, however, he named Hernandez as the culprit, reported NBC.

The former Patriot’s fall from grace began in June when he was arrested in connection with the violent murder of semipro football player Odin Lloyd. Hernandez was dropped by the Patriots soon after charges were filed against him.
