The goalie for the Colorado Avalanche turned himself into authorities on Wednesday on charges of kidnapping and third degree assault in a domestic violence incident.

Semyon Varlamov, a 25-year-old Russian goalie for the NHL team, surrendered to police in Denver Wednesday evening. According to AP, police are providing few details except to say that the charges involve someone with whom Varlamov was in a relationship.

The Avalanche said in a statement that they would not comment until the conclusion of the investigation. The team acquired Varlamov in a 2011 trade, and he most recently made 24 saves in a 3-2 home with over Winnipeg on Sunday.
