Boston Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew is unable to catch the errant throw from pitcher Craig Breslow as St. Louis Cardinals' Jon Jay reaches third safely on a Matt Carpenter sacrifice fly in the seventh inning during Game 2 of the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Fenway Park in Boston.

The St. Louis Cardinals and their 22-year-old rookie pitcher bested a World Series veteran to beat the Red Sox Thursday night and even the World Series at one game each.

Twenty-two year old Michael Wacha allowed two runs in six innings and got some help from a disastrous seventh inning by the Red Sox as the Cardinals took a 4-2 victory. John Lackey, a World Series veteran, pitched for the Red Sox and left the game in the seventh inning  having given up one run, but with two runners on base. The Cardinals scored three runs off hits and Red Sox throwing errors to take the victory.

The World Series heads to St. Louis over the weekend for a three-game stretch. Game 3 will begin at 8:07 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday.
