As a result of his doping scandal, Lance Armstrong has given back the bronze medal he won at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
The cycling star was ordered to relinquish his medal in January, but only handed it over to the U.S. Olympic Committee two weeks ago the AP reports. The International Olympic Committee confirmed today that it has the medal in its vaults.
Last November, Armstrong was stripped of the seven Tour-de-France titles he won from 1999 to 2005 because of his use of performance-enhancing drugs. He admitted to doping on Oprah in January after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released a report accusing him and his teammates of cheating.
The Olympic Committee says that Armstrong’s medal will not be re-gifted.
