Louisiana State University, an 11th-seeded team, lost to Louisville (the team that went on to win it all) in 1986. LSU was the outright underdog of the group and the team admitted to being a bit out of its league among teams like Kentucky and Duke. After LSU’s time in the tournament came to an end, team coach Dale Brown noted, “Certainly I’m disappointed. But it has been a great experience. We have really enjoyed it.”
